Wu Wei, acrylic on canvas, 55 x 75 cm, Ecuador, 2023

This painting was created one early morning when a wild wind spoke to me about the Taoist art of wu wei. What does it mean, I ask. It is the art of doing nothing, not striving, the harmony of the inner nature with the laws of nature. And how do you do that? Let all your illusions, desires, ideals and all efforts to achieve them die. Then you can watch the cemetery of your illusions, desires and ideals. Sometimes you may cry, sometimes you may laugh, sometimes quite sarcastically. You will be able to watch how your mind tries in vain to revive each of the corpses, to keep it under its control for at least a moment longer. However, you may notice that with each next breath you are sinking deeper into yourself and letting life flow through you without effort, without control. In the quiet harmony of your breath with the breath of life, you will feel peace and tranquility and yourself, fully, uncompromisingly, finally. In trusting yourself, intuition, life and its own development, you will feel the excitement of an emptiness full of potential, from which everything and nothing can spontaneously arise. In every surprise, you will see the beauty of the unexpected, thanks to which life is so wonderfully colorful.

This painting was created during a noisy Ecuadorian night, when all kinds of music was blaring from all sides. But I was in the acceptance of the moment, without the desire to change it. Without the need for silence. It was enough for me as it was and I felt good, without anything preventing me from expressing myself freely. There was only a clean canvas, my hands, colors, my heart and the present moment. Nothing more. Nothing less. And it was enough, because that is always enough. Right now and here, not yesterday or tomorrow, not a minute ago or a minute later, but right now. Inhale. Exhale. Freedom, real, empty, full, uplifting, satisfying, without beginning and end, without meaning or nonsense. The message of this painting is, let it be enough for us to “just” be in the presence of every moment and we simply feel good.

Primal Power, acrylic on canvas, 55 x 75 cm, Ecuador, 2023

This painting brings a connection to the primal power that is untamed and yet compassionate and tender. At the same time passionate, giving life. A mysterious lady standing at the birth of all life. Sometimes so raw in her truth. Sometimes so sweet in the gaze of innocent eyes. We can never escape her, even if we often try so vainly. When you listen to her, you can hear her whisper, I breathe in your heart, I bloom in your being, I shine in your spirit, I am you, faithful lover, naked beauty, untamed love. My world is the world of your heart pulsating with the infinite fullness of life. I flow through you, burning away all that is not real, and I breathe life into all that is born of natural vulnerability, playful spontaneity, pure repose in the here and now, in the mysterious pause between wholeness and disintegration, clarity and confusion, inner peace and desires, in the dynamic dance of the moon and the sun. In a place where you feel that your heart may burst with pain and sorrow, but where a mystical space opens through surrender and acceptance for the expression of your inner music. The colorful poetry of life that leaves touches in the hearts of others. I offer you a sacred space woven from the peaceful repose of the present moment, where all things are possible. What you allow to breathe life into your heart is up to you. But trust. You are the creator, a spark of my divine essence. And so I ask, what is the deepest dream that you want to live without compromise?

The following poem came to accompany this painting:

Bow down with respect to the earth and look with trust in life to the stars,

near and far, to the eternal and infinite lights,

and quietly float in the unbridled waters,

let yourself be undressed in the waves of truth, shallow and deep,

in the raw spiral of life and death,

in the fertility of the soil, in the primordial forces, in the web of eternity,

in the wisdom of the creative serpentine power of sacred knowledge,

find your place for rebirth and resurrection,

with the blessing of the souls of your ancestors and Mother Earth, the moon and the stars,

do not let life seduce you from your sacred pilgrimage,

with tenacious humility in the modesty of the freedom of your soul,

in the ocean of love and the transience of time will heal everything,

and then you will bow down again with respect and kiss the earth,

and with confidence in yourself and life you will once again look into the eyes of the stars in the sky.

Inner Touch, acrylic on canvas 55 x 75 cm, Ecuador, 2022

The painting Inner Touch connects us in a subtle way with everything intangible, which yet touches us so much. And so I ask what is intangible, what we often seek in life and find difficult for us to grasp and creates waves in life up and down. It is the hunger and desire for life. Enthusiasm for life. A warm spark in the heart that enlivens everything and covers it in the diverse colors of life. For me, and perhaps for you as well, it is that indescribable mysterious feeling when the rawness of life permeates our entire being. It strips us naked and leaves us in the simple arms of truth, whatever that means. When life flows through us according to its own rules and not according to our often crazy ideas. And that is real. We feel it in our hearts and there is no need to describe it in words. A spark becomes a blazing fire, and a blazing fire becomes a radiant sun that nourishes and feeds our heart and soul. It is deep inside us, where our illusory ideas and superficial delusions do not reach. It is there where we feel a passionate desire to live. When we know that life contains death and death life. This painting brings gratitude for the desire of all of us to live. And if we do not feel this desire, may we have loved ones around us who can reawaken enthusiasm in us and share it with us, so that the little things of everyday life once again shine colorfully and illuminate our inner universe.

This painting was created in the strong energies of the summer solstice. At that time, I felt so tired, maybe with my own mind, maybe with my whole life, and so I rested in the arms of this tiredness, which was surprisingly as warm, soft and comforting as the loving arms of a grandmother. It gave me space to dive into myself without strength, without thoughts, without actions and thousands of intentions and feelings of guilt, without struggle, without unnecessary games, without the need to control myself, over my whole life. It let me enter into the absolute emptiness, into the source of the full potential of our inner strength, the pure core of life, in which we find everything we are looking for, ourselves, our rebirth in sincere surrender to life, without resistance, in connection with our own heart, which always knows and sympathizes. This painting brings gratitude for all the teachings that come not only with the gateway of the solstice, but create the colorful web of our lives in respect for the kind, creative and nourishing energy of Father Sun and with gratitude for all the germinating seeds, fragrant flowers and nourished fruits of Mother Earth.

The Beauty of Transience, acrylic on canvas, 55 x 75 cm, Ecuador, 2021

This painting comes with a challenge to realize what it is like to experience each moment knowing that it could be our last. Knowing that our life could end at any time. To enjoy today as if it were our last. So often we forget about our mortality that we do not say “I love you” when we feel it. We do not give our loved ones a passionate kiss, a warm embrace, a tight hug, even when we feel that now is the time. Why? Because we are often afraid. We look into the past or think about the future, that we forget to laugh for no reason, to rejoice in the little things, to create playfully, to sing, dance, love and enjoy every day, every now and then with the only certainty that we will never get time back. and so let us ask ourselves again and again, how do you want to use this moment, how do you want to live today? The heart always knows, in the fullness of passion for life, that we are, that we can still be and feel so much the purity of being, the playfulness of every moment, the liberating truth, the love of our soul and the passion of our heart. Let us never forget that life is too short and too beautiful not to live it.

Catalyst of Birth, acrylic on canvas, 55 x 75 cm, Ecuador, 2022

This painting opened up a deep connection to pain and anger. What if we experience excruciating pain on a physical level? What can happen? Perhaps on a psychological level, a Pandora’s box of anger can open, carefully collected and turned against ourselves. Then we can perceive how the pain only reflects our anger at ourselves, for allowing ourselves to endure things that were not beneficial to us, that suffocated us, squeezed us, and often crushed our hearts and souls very painfully. At that moment, we can decide that we no longer want to do this, and then we can accept this anger with kindness and forgiveness towards ourselves and discover in it the power to change, to truly express ourselves, whatever that means. Anger is fierce, but it also soothes wounds. It strips us naked. It reveals wounds. It is truth, the courage to be direct in intimacy, in the turbulent dance of rebellion and acceptance, provocation and reconciliation, helplessness and strength. It is rational thought and irrational pain, an opportunity to know oneself and accept responsibility for one’s own life. Then we can feel that it is the catalyst for the birth of honest and true expression of oneself. It is a gift that allows us to feel who we really are without embellishment and ugliness, but in our authentic truth. And so let us give thanks for every opportunity to be angry and taste who we really are.

Wild, acrylic on canvas, 55 x 75 cm, Ecuador, 2023
Read the story behind this painting

This painting was inspired by a poem by a friend of mine who calls her poetry “wild poetry”. During the process of creation, these words came to me. What kind of woman are you? I ask. What kind of woman are you really? I ask. For some, just a body of graceful curves in a perfectly fitting dress, wrapped in a veil of the scent of sweet jasmine. But who are you really? A love that ignites passion in every cell of the body, a delicious graceful body that wants to dance freely, writhe in the rhythm of wild movements with an open groin to the depths of the soul, to the marrow of the bones, the fiery core of the heart. With the desire to feel everything fully now and here, the rawness of passion, the expansiveness of pleasure, delightful sighs without thoughts, without evaluation, without prejudice and judgment.
